MagicMethod Phone Sourcing Classroom Chat Log Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Best Remark of the Day "Well, we use as many resources as we can touch. As far as phone sourcing what we usually do is map out a phone system of a gov contracting company but when we do that we don't pull out any titles. How do you get the titles? Keep in mind these people hold high level security clearances and they don't just spill the beans as easily as non-cleared folks." ~ Rachael

12.00pm Maureen Sharib Today is MagicMethod phone sourcing class right here in chat!
Read today's agenda before class -it's posted down below in Blog Posts.
12:11pm Jennifer Maureen, I was just trying to get my head around the format. I see now we're all discussing methods and we get to ask you questions. No specific ones here...
12:11pm Raluca the internet is a very useful tool and it is very at hand
12:11pm Rachael we support many clients within the DOD - we spend an hour or two doing very targeted research in a day and wanted to hear what you might have to teach us about sourcing names
12:11pm Raluca but not always such a name provider
12:11pm Maureen Sharib "at hand?"
12:12pm Raluca easy to use for everybody
12:12pm Maureen Sharib Rachael - do you phone source or Internet source?
12:12pm Raluca easy to access
12:12pm Rachael both - what does phone sourcing mean to you?
12:12pm Maureen Sharib "...not always such a name provider" You mean in defense? I think Paul would agree w/ that!
12:13pm Paul Davenport Absolutely!
12:13pm Maureen Sharib Phone sourcing -you have a name (or three) and you call into a company and find the people on the inside who hold very specific titles.
12:13pm Ondin Petrescu i think both process are important name source and internet source
12:14pm Maureen Sharib Rachael - what do you think it is?
12:14pm Paul Davenport What's the biggest challenge you face in identifying cleared IT pros?
12:15pm Raluca what does it mean, could you please explain?
12:15pm Rachael Well, we use as many resources as we can touch. As far as phone sourcing what we usually do is map out a phone system of a gov contracting company but when we do that we don't pull out any titles. How do you get the titles? Keep in mind these people hold high level security clearances and they don't just spill the beans as easily as non-cleared folks
12:16pm Maureen Sharib Rachael - we have covered this in earlier class chats but it's a good topic to revisit from time to time so let's do it -anyone object?
12:16pm Bonnie OBrien, PHR, CTS, CPC, CSP Hi all. I am a little confused here. I also recruit people to work with the DOD and clearances need to be tied to contracts or employment. So Rachael is seeking out persons who are already working somewhere that would require a clearance.
12:16pm Maureen Sharib Good point Bonnie. A case where choosing your targets correctly eases the battle...
12:17pm Rachael right, of course
12:18pm Maureen Sharib Rachael- when you map those phone banks (at night or whenever) - isn't it true that some info is given up in the process?
