I can understand your viewpoint. UIsually I never hire sales reps. Instead I hire people who have never done sales but have it in them. Often times people in sales are stubborn in their ways, they are not easily coached, and often times lack the team mentaility. Thus I like to recruit people who have done rcruiting, have worked in management within the hospitaility industry etc. This way there are less bad habits to break, less reliance on the old school of thought -- "this is the way I have been selling for abc years."

To each their own. What works for one may not for another. I can only speak from my own first hand experience. I started in recruiting and then transitioned into sales for the company. Many seasoned sales professionals, that I have interviewed, are very self centered. They only think about themself, what's in it for them, and not the team. Thus, many recruiters banged heads with the outside sales reps.
