Open Letter to Bountyjobs: Please address this question regarding your service

Dear Bountyjobs,

We haven't spoken before. My name Jerry Albright. I'm a recruiter in Indiana.

I have been researching various split networks, etc. (not quite sure what BJs, Dayak, etc. are called - but the whole spectrum of recruiting/client development services)

There are videos sprinkled around the internet where a considerable degree of success is claimed by Bountyjobs. Most recently the video from Recruiterearth.com with a snippet of Jeremy Lappin, CEO of Boutyjobs indicating your network/group is doing "Thousands of placements annually".

I am very interested in "thousands of placements annually" myself. Those are the kind of numbers we can only dream about - until now! You are claiming this is the level you have reached - yet I can not find more than a handful of any reference to recruiters being successful with your site.

Would anyone associated with BJs please clarify this for me? I am certainly not the only one wondering. Also wondering if the other Jeremy who posted last week about not getting his money even after the clients sent him copies of cashed checks has been resolved.

agreed. let me preffice what i said earlier in that i heard from the folks at bounty they were closing thousands of deals. I haven't met more than 5-6 recruiters who have closed deals. BIg difference. What i do like about it is that it has opened my eyes to other marketplaces for recruiting efforts. I have always been in technology which i am burnt on and is a very difficult marketplace overloaded with competition. I had an interest in getting into healthcare, specifically within doctors and boutny has tons of those spots posted. From there though, i did come to the realization that getting into a niche lik healthcare requries you to also scale back to a specific area as they have a ton of differnet listing on there within a wide variety of medicine. I have picked one that seems worthwhile, interesting and challenging and although i will check on bounty as well as other split sites from time to time, i think the best bet is to build your relationships with clients directly as it will only benefit you at the end of the day and really prove your worth moreso than just pushing paper over to them.
Christopher - so far in my search I really haven't found much that I would consider investing my time into for recruiting splits. There are well-established ones out there - Top Echelon, etc. though that seem to do very well. What I have found is that looking up members here at RBC that are in your particular marketplace is a great way to go. Yesterday I introduced a candidate to my client from a recruiter here. Also have several of my own candidates in the loop with another recruiters client from here. So just look some people up and get to know them - you'll be impressed with some of the people here. I sure am.

Rafael - I have invited Bountyjobs to this conversation. I'm sure they've been here and decided NOT to answer the questions. Which is odd really. From watching THIS VIDEO I can tell Jeremy Lappin is a nice guy and interested in the growth of his company. Can't quite figure out why he wouldn't want to come say hello to 15,000 recruiters.......
Thanks Jerry!

Actually, they do. They've popped in here before and responded to questions. Most savvy companies do monitor buzz about them online and nip negative stuff in the bud whenever appropriate before the viral effect gets out of hand.

I'd love to hear more from them about success stories and some real numbers as to how many jobs are being filled.

I noticed a new entry into this market, TalentAlliance maybe, or something like that, and one thing that I thought was interesting was that they have a running numbers total for all to see, something like 1.5 million in fees out there, but also 750,000 in fees earned...and they are a new one. I'd love to see Bounty do something similar. If their numbers are that impressive, why not emphasize it more?

Jerry - You might want to send your question to bounty jobs directly. I doubt they troll blogs to see if someone has questions for them. Their email is posted rather prominently on their website - headhunters@bountyjobs.com
The funny thing here Pam - I'm only asking for them to confirm what keeps popping up in these videos. For some reason the phrase "thousands of placements annually" has now become my own personal goal. For real. And for that I need to thank Jeremy Lappin, CEO of Bountyjobs. The more I thought about it - I started thinking - "Hey - what would it really take to be a part of 1000 placements in one year"?. So here I am.

Since he has stated these numbers in interviews being circulated around the internet I'm simply asking for them to drop by and say "Yeah - thousands of placements annually - you bet!"

But now that they have been here and chosen not to participate I'm being left to make assumptions about the veracity of the claims.......

Jerry,

I would be surprised if they have over 1000 fills in the few years that they have been open and then how many actually stayed filled. My firm filled 2 on the site and both refunded. Newer companies will always stretch the truth to make themselves look good.
I'm starting to think the same thing John. I know how much work goes into getting something new off the ground. What is bugging me here is the guy saying - oh no - here it is again - Thousands of Placements Annually.

Now I'm wondering why - if it is a falsehood - would they let that video remain out here on the web. If it were my company - first I would have never claimed something as a fact that was not - but if it were me I'd make sure to track down all copies and shut the false advertisement down.

Jeremy,

We signed up with them yesterday, I'll let you know how it works for us. So far, it appears a lot of recruiters are in there and not as many jobs.

Julie
Jerry,

I have connections at BJ, I will have them loop into the conversation. I think they would want to address your questions and I think it would be in their best interest to share the information you are requesting!

Julia
Rafael.. I was surprised by your comment. My question is; What company, offering a service to recruiters, would NOT "troll" blogs, communities, forums.. heck.. every corner of the internet to "listen" to the conversation about their brand. Maybe they are "too big to fail?"

I believe this is the appropriate place for the conversation so that the appropriate audience can see the answer. Of course, it is only appropriate if BountyJobs is free to answer. Which, I know, they are.

Like Julia, I have a contact over there and I will nudge that person to "loop in" to the conversation as well. I am very curious as to their answers.

Jerry, thanks for your courage.

Christopher,

I couldn't agree more with Jerry on this. We've been doing splits since '02 and I've always felt that interjecting a group that connects the recruiters and takes a cut is not necessary and also makes the process and success more difficult. The independent recruiting community has grown tremendously and really evolved and the biggest contributers to that growth from my perspective are ERE and Recruitingblogs.com. I've connected with great people here. The structure is there for you to build your own network and partner with good people in whatever way works for your business.

Update:

I have received correspondence from Bountyjobs. They are aware of this thread but I am not in position to speak on their behalf. I will pass along their confirmation of the video statement from Jeremy Lappin of "thousands of placements annually" so I am not sharing anything that is not a part of the public record here.

(Boy - I'm sounding like a lawyer here!!)

If they want everyone to know what they shared with me they are free to come here and join in the discussion about their company. I encourage them to do so........
