Sal,
I have the great advantage of having developed Access databases in the past; if I do it, it'll be homegrown to get me through to something bigger and better. My preference, however, is to start with something that's scalable as I grow .. and not have to transfer data from one system to another.

Hi Chris and Sandy.
Is sendouts.com asp driven? I never feel comfortable whwen my data is housed remotely...
Sandy re: access driven database is there a turnkey one out there or would you have it developed?
I assume there must be some open source/freeware database.
Don't need bells and whistles...

I've recently started my own recruitment business (independent) and have TRULY hit the ground running. There seem to quite a few options out there in terms of the accounting/tracking side of the business for candidates, billing, expenses, etc. I'd be interested in hearing from members of the group about successful ways to manage this side of your business. (I seem to be bouncing back and forth between Excel and Quickbooks and am contemplating an Access database for candidate tracking.

Thank you in advance !

Opening a business is going out on a limb, no safety nets, no-one to blame for lack of success. It is naturally a big adjustment emotionally as you have to get out of the "follower" mentality and just do it on your own. I just started my business last year. Is there anyone here who has built a virtual recruiting team? If so, I'd like to hear about that process.

Hi Irina,
Really appreciate your willingness to help;-) I would love to learn how to successfully secure new clients/job orders. What type of marketing strategies work the best? Would appreciate any feedback that anyone could offer.

Hi Irina, thanks for the invite and thank you for starting this. I have been in business since 2005 and have had much success. I have since been in the process of establishing a second recruiting firm and an online recruiting network to assists recruiters like myself, who are looking for networking partners. I've had my share of ups and downs in the process and I hope my experiences and the experience of others will be very helpful.
