Writing in the Telegraph, management expert John Timpson stated that this prejudice affects many highly qualified, middle-aged out-of-work executives, who he argued "are probably discriminated against more than most".

He said that people "must be realistic about the job and the money" as businesses "are understandably reluctant to increase their payroll while they are still feeling the after-effects of the recession".

A message issued by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to UK employers could be beneficial to those who are setting up a recruitment company and looking into outsourcing recruitment agency invoice financing.
Mike Petrook, spokesperson for the CMI, said that employers can maximise the potential of their businesses and their staff by making the most of transferable skills.
He explained: "There is certainly an increasing need for project work, and a number of organisations that we're talking to say that they are bringing different people for different projects.
