Des - Nice to see another fellow Aussie here. The picture looks a little gray an not truly representative of the sunshine coast.

Cheers and please have a XXXX on me!

Des, I think the Chatter system is sort of like writing messages on a blackboard in an empty room. When I write and then leave, when you come into the room you can read and answer back... at least that's what is seems like to me. Maybe like a forum, but less formal... Oh, and don't press the res "X" to see what happens after you write a whole bunch of stuff, it just erases your chatter.

The other day I wrote something here - no idea about where it's gone - on the fact the "War on Talent" terminology is being used in Australia as well as in North America. Just got notice in the email that the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), arguably the most influential professional IT body in the country, has a special breakfast seminar on the topic next week in Sydney: http://www.aiia.com.au/i-cms.isp?page=events&option=front&id=46 Westpac bank exec to speak:

With the global demand for talent going up and supply going down, the ‘war’ for talented people is getting hot. Westpac has taken a number of strategic and tactical steps to get ahead of the pack.

Michael Coomer, Group Executive of Westpac’s Business & Technology Solutions & Services division, will outline some of these steps which range from development centres, generation Y research and activities, MBA programs and Alumni initiatives to strategic workforce planning, talent searches and sourcing.
