How to get candidates into your Talent Network

I know I’ve been speaking a lot about Talent Communities on this blog lately but for this post I’m going to use a term I like better, which is Talent Network.  A Talent Network is a collection of candidates that your organization engages with from a recruiting perspective.  The engagement is bi-directional with the hope being that you not only engage with the individual but you are eventually able to engage with the individual’s network as well.  It is not a community in the sense of the…

What type of content should you share with your Talent Community?

So you’ve built up your Talent Community or Talent Network and gained a significant amount of followers on your Twitter profile and Facebook page.  The question is what do you do next?

The answer to this question you’ve heard a thousand times: engage!

When I talk about engagement I mean a few things.  First, it’s the bi-directional communication you have with a candidate to promote your company opportunities, understand their qualifications & skill-sets…

Halloween & Recruiting: Learning from your 10 year old self!

When I was growing up, there was not a holiday that I looked forward to more than Halloween.  Not only did I love thinking up a great costume and getting free candy but I always really enjoyed the Halloween route planning sessions the night before.

Every Halloween I’d go to one of my friends places (as they had a better neighborhood) and we’d map out the houses and areas we would hit up during the night.  After years of experience, we knew the houses that gave the “good”…

Understanding your ROI and making the best of your recruitment budget!

One of the biggest issues in HR & recruiting these days is budget.  How can recruiting organizations provide a business case to management to get more budget for recruiting campaigns & initiatives?

But while this is important, I urge you to take a different view to this problem.  Think not how you can get more budget but think about how you can better use the budget you have more effectively.  What does this mean?  It means:

  • Reducing your usage of…

One of the biggest trends in recruiting today is the development of Talent Networks.  Here’s how I define a Talent Network (definitely feel to add your definition in the comments):

A Talent Network is a community of candidates that a recruiting organization builds organically through opt-in and sourcing and most importantly, engages with (via social media, email, SMS) to drive qualified candidates & hires into their recruiting…

3 Trends to understand in Recruitment SEO!

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be an integral part of any recruiting strategy and it’s appealing for a number of reasons.  Here are a few:

  1. Inexpensive: It represents a free (in terms of $’s) way for job seekers to find your job content.

What I learned in Vegas: #HRTechConf Wrap-Up

The 14th annual HR Technology Conference didn't disappoint in Vegas this year. Not only was this the biggest collection of rockstar attendees at the conference to date but the breakout and main panel discussions were the best I've seen them. I also love the addition of HR Tech Connect to enable attendees to interact before the event.

From the main / breakout sessions to the expo hall, here are my thoughts and observations on a great few days in Vegas:
