Guy Who Has A Recruiting Blog Gets A Job

I have some exciting personal news to share today. Last week I accepted an offer from Dave Manaster to come join ERE and help build the Fordyce Letter.

This is an incredible opportunity for me. I really like the recruiting business and I really like it from a third party recruiter’s perspective. I started subscribing to the Fordyce Letter almost 10 years ago. It is a tremendous resource and I don’t feel silly saying that no Third Party Recruiter should be without a subscription. It’s true.

At a base level, when it comes to thinking about and relating to the business of being a third party recruiter, The Fordyce Letter is something you should be reading. Sounds like a shameless plug doesn’t it? Well I can tell you something, you just go ahead and ask anyone of the subscribers and let them tell you what they think.

Dave Manaster did something really smart about 36 weeks ago. He called Paul Hawkinson who is the publisher of the Fordyce Letter and worked out a deal that led to ERE’s acquisition of the Fordyce Letter. I remember being floored. I was blown away. It was one of those times where I had to leave the office and take a walk around the building.

For me now to be part of that team is really an honor. I talk to Dave almost every day and the guys at ERE who I have met are good people. Last week I spoke to Paul Hawkinson and though it was not the first time I had spoken to him, it was the first time I was feeling like I had electricity running through me. I think we are all going to get along.

Might as well rename The Fordyce Forum while you are at it too.

Hey Ben, I think I will wait at least a week before I start making those kinds of suggestions.

Very, very cool Jason - the first thing my manager had me do when I joined the industry as a third party recruiter (waaay back in the mid-90's) was to read The Fordyce Letter. A great deal of my (recruiting) habits were formed around the advice & guidance it offered as I grew in my career.

I'm really happy it's still staying in hands that I have a great deal of respect for. Good going!

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I appreciate it. This is going to be lots of fun and I think that the bigger the Fordyce Letter gets in terms of readers, the more effective the third party recruiting industry get.
