4 Highly Sought-After Careers in the Service Field Worth Pursuing

The service industry has to do with individuals that provide services to people as compared to making goods or products. Examples of major fields within this industry include hospitality, customer service, financial services and even health care. However, the following four careers are worth pursuing because they are expected to grow significantly in the upcoming years, because there are not enough individuals currently in this field or because these jobs pay incredibly well.

Home Health Aides

Home health aides, sometimes called by different names depending on the state of licensure or certification, perform daily tasks for individuals who are unable to care for themselves independently in their homes. They may help with activities of daily living, such as brushing teeth, feeding and bathing, and may perform health-related tasks, such as taking blood pressure. This job is expected to grow by 38 percent by 2024 as the population ages.

Electricians

With an electrician training course that usually takes under two years, individuals can advance to a sought-after job in the electrical field. Some schools, such as HVAC Technical Institute, know how important it is to advance in your career. Most education also includes on-the-job training or apprenticeships. Electricians can find plenty of jobs in factories and businesses, or they may work for themselves in private homes and business.

Housekeepers

The number of jobs for housekeepers is expected to increase by 13 percent in the decade ending in 2022 with the most jobs added for housekeeping in the health care industry. Housekeepers often work in hotels and hospitals, or they may work in businesses, cleaning after hours. The highest paid housekeepers work in private homes for the rich.

Chefs

A chef often works for restaurants but may work for private individuals and businesses as self-employed individuals. Private chefs often register with staffing companies and may even get paid up to $125,000 per year depending on their experience and for whom they are working. While this can be a competitive field, jobs can be quite secure for those who work hard and are creative.

In-demand and highly sought after jobs change every decade or so as the population ages and changes and as technology improves. While many jobs are being shipped overseas and others are being replaced by technology that can do the jobs faster and cheaper, the four listed here are expected to remain popular for years to come. Another great benefit of these is that they typically do not require a four-year college degree but rather require on-the-job training or trade school education, which is usually quite affordable.
