Casting Director is another word for a Recruiter.

For tonight, I'm thinking that being a recruiter is like a casting director. It would be like working for a producer who wants to make that block buster movie. I'm thinking of the movie- The Dark Knight; directed by Christopher Nolan. Starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart. Batman, Gordon and Harvey Dent .

This movie blew me away since the star of the movie was Heath Ledger. He was the one that carried the movie- he was perfect for the Joker character. This is an example of when you find a candidate who is perfect for the position, the company would be successful like the Dark Knight movie. We may have to through alot of candidates just find that one candidate to fit the position.

I know that this is the way it is...but none the less this process is like a casting call. Each job order is like a movie that needs the right actor for the part. You have the job description (the script) and now it's up to you to find the talent that will be the best at this position. ( the best talent to play the part for the movie)

It's a matter of finding the talent that's perfect for the position. Those who don't make the cut, you won't normally call back. For those who have great talents but they are not suitable for your position, you will keep in touch. For companies who are looking for great talents- it's a matter being a great company or just ordinary company.

For those companies who are successful, they know the value of finding the right talents that are needed to make them successful or keep being successful. So when a company is asking you to find the right candidate, they are depending on you to make the right casting call or at least getting those candidates who can pass the audition ( the interview) for the part.

When you do find the right talent, everyone wins! So the next time a company calls on you to find the talent for their position, put on your casting director's hat!

Sally,

Great post. Having tasted some bits and pieces somewhat of that particular industry.. I can "digest" the story quite well.. At the end of the day, if you do find the right talent.. yes.. everyone wins. Keeping it positive outlook sure takes one further than anything. Thanks for sharing...and keep it coming Sally~ Look forward to reading more of your blog posts.

Walt Disney World has a Casting Studio with Casting Directors. Very good analogy.

As someone who's worked in talent development and casting, I can tell you that this is erroneous. You cast based on interpersonal chemistry and look, first of which recruiting hasn't figured out, second of which is technically illegal.
