I just discovered this cool site called Twitter.

I'm not sure if I should write "I'm Twittering... I Twitter... I am a Twit" or what. About a Month ago, a friend invited me to follow them on www.twitter.com. At first glance, it seemed fun, but I had no idea how to get started or what value it could offer me as a busy recruiter.

Then, it hit me and I signed up too.

A couple of my friends are also professional recruiters, that "Twitter." My thoughts are "let's follow them and see where we go." If anything, it will offer great entertainment value.. or who knows... the candidate of a lifetime could appear on my Twitter.

So, here I am, writing my first blog comment about my new recruiting experiment with Twitter.

I invite you to follow me on Twitter http://twitter.com/heathergardner

Let's see where it takes us!

Heather - it's definitely good for branding, especially if you're blogging, and especially if you're working on the high tech space.

Thanks, Ben. I'm buried.. so, I'll probably back-burner that one for now... just from a time-management stand-point (oh, if you only knew how funny it is to hear me talking like I have time management skills...). But, I'll keep my virtual eye on this forum string to listen for ideas on how to use it. Thanks again.. and thanks Heather for starting this topic. Good one.

I don't twitter as often as I should...this just reminded me to check in and say something. What's interesting about twitter though is that I've had positive comments from candidates...I think they check it out trying to get a feel for my personality, and what surprised me was that they've scrolled down and several have commented on my very first twitter post....where I said something about sharing a sundae w/my 91 year old grandfather! Never would have guessed that would draw comments....you never know.

Have fun with it, that's the advice I'd give you. Use it to give people a sense of who you are and what you're working on.

:) Pam

Yeh.. see,,, that's why I said earlier that it (Twitter) seems to bring a more personal connection.... though communities like RecruitingBlogs are doing this as well. However, Twitter seems to be like a play-by-play of your day.... for anyone who cares to know you on that level. That's interesting.. and, like I said earlier.. strange at the same time. You would not really want to do that in a place like this (correct me if I'm wrong.. or you disagree).

I can say that this has expanded a few more brain cells for me. That's 4 of the 10 I have left. Thanks folks.

Hi Heather!

I finally have a moment to stop by and 'check you out!'.

Twitter is a great network. Its literally "micro blogging" (the founder created Blogger) so yes, you can find all kinds of people, places and even things. People do "tweet" about everything.

It's addicting though....so watch out on your time management!

Cheers,

Christie
