Yesterday was nothing to write about so I'll combine the 2 days into one post. I spent most of the day gathering names and numbers for marketing calls. I really didnt get much else done, where does the time go?
Today I had a few candidates to catch up with and do some general interviews. I am getting a small collection of top-notch candidates together for MPC calls.
I did manage to get a few calls out today. got a bite on the first one and am sending the candidates profile out tonight. I had some outdated contact info and spent quite a bit of time bouncing around a company trying to find out who I needed to talk to.
Here's a little story about a search gone bad with a happy ending. Last summer, we were offered to help another firm with a search. This was for a very large technology company, one that we would not normally go near because of it's size. They were looking for about 10+ sales managers. The total comp was $200k+. I spent night and day working on this for about 3 or 4 weeks. I interviewed about 100 candidates and submitted 6 that the client liked. The client interviewed them and was ready to make offers for at least 2 of them indicating probably more. Then the next day a new executive came into the picture and canceled the entire deal. All that time and work for nothing. I had pretty much gotten past the disappointment and forgotten about it. I mean it has been 6 months. My boss sent me an IM at 5:00pm today telling me that the client had hired one of my candidates and the check was on the way. So what a pleasant surprise. This puts me in a much better position for collecting commissions. Now what would be really cool is if I get another call saying they are hiring another of my candidates.

I also got another search to work today. If I can make it happen quickly. My big challenge tomorrow will be to budget my time to work this search and find a candidate and get some marketing calls out. I'm still struggling a little with the calls, but improving. Now when I feel my feet getting cold I dial the number, then I dont have time to worry about the call.

I've got some searching to do. More to follow....
