I just watched the 10 slide demo on the new recruiter product that LinkedIn has released. In my opinion, there is no doubt LinkedIn realizes that there is money spent on every recruiting angle out there so why not get involved. I was watching and I was enjoying and starting tho think that maybe they get and feel the pain the recruiting industry feels. But then, I think around slide number 5 or so they say you can use the inmail instead of cold calling candidates to increase results.

I would love to see a poll where the question asked is, if you are a recruiter making at least twice as much as the candidates you place, would you leave your future in the hands of inmail or the always working cold call.

I'll tell you what I do like and that is that they call candidates candidates and not applicants. It drives me crazy when I hear people call candidates applicants. It's a tell.

Thanks Joel for leading me to it.

I was definitely impressed with the Linkedin Recruiter demo. But, a few days after seeing the demo, I had an issue with my linkedin account. I was told it would take me 1 business day to hear from a customer support rep. But-it actually took 5 business days, and that was after I left 2 emails, 2 voicemails, and 1 inmail hunting down a customer support manager. This experience makes me wonder if the same lack of response would happen if we bought into this product.
The product is quite pricey and I am not too sure our team will get this feature just yet.....maybe after it has been "live" for several months and I speak to other folks that are getting to use it first hand.

I just got an email from someone letting me know that the new LinkedIn product will not be available to 3rd party recruiters and that LinkedIn will do everything they can to make sure it does not fall into the hands of 3rd party recruiters. is this the case?

Hmm, that's a good question. I didn't even think to ask that question since I'm on the corp side.

Do you want the contact info for the Linkedin Recruiter rep that I spoke with?

Amanda, thanks for the contact. I emailed with her a couple of times and essentially, this product is for what they call "direct employers" which means corporations and not recruiting agencies. LinkedIn feels they already provide a very valuable tool for independent recruiters.
