Good Workers + Great Values = Success.

Most employers/employees alike seek career success and the path to success is paved with hard work. As winning the lottery is not always an option, most people know success means hard work, working with people, understanding corporate objectives and managing challenges. Take enlightened footsteps on a career path to success; implement these steps into your day to day career life, if you haven’t already.

Step 1: Have a full understanding of your company’s goals.

Understanding the core mission, vision and values of your company is paramount to helping your company achieve it’s objective and in turn you will carry out what you need to do to be successful.

Step 2: Know your role.

Make sure you have a full understanding of what you’re employed to do and how that impacts on the grander scheme of things in your company. Knowing the ins and outs of your role will enable you to complete your job to the best of your ability and will aid you on your path to success.

Step 3: Welcome the challenge with a can do attitude.

Often during work you will be pushed to the limits and then someone will add to your workload. It may be an extra few hours or days work and yes it will be annoying but if you relish the challenge and take on the work in a calm composed and professional manner, acknowledging that it has to be done, this will reflect well on you. Greet all challenges with a can do attitude as it is better to be part of the solution than the problem.

Step 4: Positive contribution.

Following on from the last step, you should make sure you are getting stuck in and contributing positively, using your foresight to do things that should be done without being asked. Making sure everything you do is in good grace and is for the benefit of your team/company.

Step 5: Feedback.

Giving/receiving constructive feedback is like career gold. Make sure you always ask for feedback as it will help you achieve your career/company success goals. Feedback is key to learning, development, improvement and managing resources.

Step 6: Idle chit chat.

Try your best to stay away from complaining, gossiping and telling tales, as negativity will always find a route back to you. Don’t risk it after all the positivity you have built up so far.

Step 7: Respect and contribute.

Be a team player it is important to have your own contribution known, but it’s also important that the team shines and you work well within it. Earn and give respect to your colleagues and in turn this will heighten your working relationships and also give you more people to learn from. Helping your team will help you develop and cement your own knowledge.

Step 8: Working Environment.

The above points may seem obvious but are easily forgotten and overlooked, so make sure you re-engage today!Workers are a key part of shaping and molding the work environment. If you have a positive outlook and are willing to create a fun positive working environment, you can be the ambassador of change in your work place. Be part of the positive not the negative, create and shape your environment.
