During this holiday season please remember that friends do not let friends get drunk and sing Christmas Karaoke.

For some smiles let's play you know you are a recruiter if...

You know you are a recruiter if you go to a party, meet a new person ,when they tell you what they do for a living you ask them how long they have been there.  If it's less than a year you immediately think..not recruitable yet, then ask them how long they worked for the commpany they were with previously.

You know you are a recruiter if someone tells you their brother in law does something with computers and you spend the next twenty minutes asking them if he ever mentioned anything about java j2EE, apache, rational rose and forty other buzzwords they never heard of and you write the brother in laws name on a cocktail napkin but can't remeber the guys name you were talking to.

You know you are a recruiter if you are introduced to someone who is an executive at a company you have been trying to work with for two years  and you take party chit chat to the level of stalking and keep arranging to head to the bar everytime the guy goes for a drink.

You know you are a recruiter if you are calling potential clients to find out when the Xmas party is so you can figure out a way to crash it or at least hang out in the lobby of the hotel where it's being held.

Any one care to add some contributions that come to mind?

@james..winner so far. I actually was introduced to a fellow once he asked if I would like to meet for coffee. I told him to check my website, if didn't have a problem with what I do to send me a resume and we could decide if we wanted to meet for coffee.

I never heard from him again..I guess he didn't like recruiters or maybe he had a bad resume, stuff happens :)

You know you are a recruiter when you make time to give advice to someone outside of your circle of influence.  Just because it's the human thing to do.

You know you are a recruiter when you are lost in the Denver airport in the middle of a snowstorm at Christmas. You deci

de to hell with it sit on your luggage and start checking email to be sure interviews for next week got confirmed. Somebody will eventually find me right and I might close something while they are all running around looking for me.

You know you're a recruiter when you come in on your day off to make sure your only scheduled interview goes smoothly. Who cares that the candidate is internal (in other words, already works here) and knows where the Director's office is? Leave nothing to chance - deliver one, deliver them all Merry Christmas I made a placement. :)

You know you are a recruiter when an outside sales rep cold call your office and you invite him/her to your office for a chat.

You know you are a recruiter when you are spending Christmas Eve Eve explaining to some "thrifty" client why paying for half of a candidates already scheduled and paid for trip is the only way he's going to get to see him.

You know you are a recruiter when you are headed to the airport to go home.  Your son says,"You are really quiet, sorry if you are depressed about leaving" and you don't dare tell him that you are quiet because you are thinking about new job recs that came in while you were gone and trying to think of which candidates will be a fit.

Who wants to be dumped out of the car at sidewalk check in on a cold night.
