Fall Sourcecon 2016 Day 1-Breakout Sessions 2

So day 1 Breakout Session Part 2 is here. The Breakouts fall into one of three categories; Candidate Identification (CI), Candidate Engagement (CE), and Marketing and Branding(MB).

First up Megan Calimbas “Avoiding Search Failure”, basically she makes it clear that research comes first. You need to know the who, what, when, where, why, and how of what you are looking for. She further goe son about the initial strategy; Competitive Intel, Market Analysis, Benchmarks, etc. Then the “Search Parameters”; Non Negotiables, Preferred Skills, Competitors, A-List, DNC(do not contact) List, Value Prop, Total Comp, Prior Activity and Geography. There is a lot more and basically is a guide to research. You can see the video of her presentation here: https://www.facebook.com/sourcecon/videos/1116389791743004/

The nest is Mike Chuidian “You Played Yourself: Your Messaging Strategy Isn’t Working”. This was a great presentation as Mike was high energy and knowledgeable. FACT-The avg Inmail response rate is between 20-25%. HMMM. Long story short this is all about personalization and being different. Not being a “ROBOT”. By being Personal Mike was getting an avg over 84% response rate and that was for VPs, Growth Hackers, and Data Scientists, some of the hardest people to get to respond. So how? Simple avoid spam triggers, remember the subject and first sentence are most important, Use humor, be personable, Follow up. Simple rules that if you follow will increase your response rate.

Last for this set was Paul DeBettignies “A Blueprint to Build & Maintain a Successful Recruiter Brand”. So Paul goes into several keys for this; having complete and u0p to date social bios, sharing on social media-things like events, webinars, blogs etc, Personalizing all emails/inmails , and many other things that can help your brand. Perhaps one of the biggest is keeping in the know about what is going on in your industry, and in your city.

Till next week.
