Fall Sourcecon 2016 Day 1-Breakout Sessions 3

So day 1 Breakout Session Part 3 is here. This is also the 5 post in the series. The Breakouts fall into one of three categories; Candidate Identification (CI), Candidate Engagement (CE), and Marketing and Branding(MB).

First up was Guprit Bhambra “Secrets to Market Mapping your way to Success”. She starts out going through a list of sources of data, seen below

The purpose for this it to provide market insight also known as “Talent Mapping”. The reason is very simple the more you know about what you need the easier it is to find. A lot of what she talks about is your talent roadmap of what you need to know, what you need to account for etc. You can actually see her presentation at the link below.

Next up was Natalie Dunphy “He’s just not that Into you”. This was about overcoming candidate objections. She goes through some of the objections; Position does not match their goals, Family Concerns, Unable to relocate to name a few. The key her is to do you homework try to predict their personalities, motivators, anticipate objections, etc. The some tools; Crystal, Linkedin, Chrome, Gmail, Charlie App. She then talks about keeping track of the reasons for candidates rejecting your position or contact. Sometimes a pattern emerges that can help you later.

The last Brakout for day 1 was Marvin Smith “Talent Sourcing in the digital Era”. Marvin starts out breaking out what happens every 60 seconds in the digital world, such as Facebook receiving 4 million likes, etc. He goes on to the cycle of Explore, Discover, Engage, Nurture, and Case Study.  Interestingly the first 4 are also the four pillars of Sourcing. Marvin then lays the smack down on us with facts and stats galore. Then comes “Tools”; Scoop.it, Feedly, Nuzzel, ContentGems. “What makes Talent Tick”, that is the question, the answer creating a Persona. You wil also need a Sorucing Roadmap, figure out your talent Messaging-that first contact, Nurture Messaging-keeping them interested. Lots of great content and you can view his presentation at the link below.
