Scheduling the best interview time for you and your candidate is a kind of a challenge. They lob a time over to you, you lob it back over to them, and so until you come to an agreement.
In today’s job market, the competition for top talents has increased significantly. If you manage your interviews ineffectively, the process will slow down, and the most qualified specialists will be snapped up by your competitors.
To avoid an unbearably slow process of interviewing candidates, I have sourced the following pieces of advice on how to schedule interviews effectively.
Not only a candidate is trying to sell himself/herself during an interview, but you also should be trying to sell your company to them. That is why it is a good idea to hold interviews at the time of day when you are on a roll.
For example, you should not line up the interview before an important presentation or meeting because your thoughts will be focused on the meeting rather than on a person sitting in front of you. Some professionals say that a perfect time for interviews is 10:30 AM. Midmorning may be the best time to present a position and the company to a candidate.
When your to-do list is very long, and it keeps growing, you will certainly have a really tight interview schedule. However, soon you will see that this is where the problems begin.
Sometimes it is hard to control the amount of time you spend on the interview. While the average one lasts for 30-40 minutes, you never know what may happen during the interview. Appoint a sufficient amount of time for every interview to focus on your candidate rather than on your clock.
Do your best not to fail to email the candidates about the interview schedules promptly. Otherwise you risk looking like you don’t think that his/her time is as much valuable as yours.
Your candidate is more likely to have a busy schedule. So it is important to respond to candidates messages not only to keep him/her in a hiring process but to show that you appreciate the time they are taking to have an interview with you.
In simple words, scheduling tools may help you to refine a scheduling process. Your mobile phone used as a reminding tool, for instance, increases the chances for effective time management and, as a result, an effective interaction between you and a candidate by promoting easy and fast scheduling.
In addition, there are numerous useful applications and programs that may help you in scheduling. Among them are Outlook, RIVS Schedulers, Google Calendar, and iCalendar. Candidates can choose time slots that are suitable for them from your calendar. This process saves your time since you do not have to email back and forth eternally before you ascertain the possible interview time.
Effective time management and scheduling makes a hiring process faster and opens new positive lines of communication.
