Doing Work vs. Getting it Done: The 5 Contributions of HR

Let's consider five contributions of HR; distinct individuality at workplace that can be taken as bedrock to built companies with strong foundation and commitment.

1 HR as an enabler- Have you ever wondered why HR is trusted so closely with management. As a matter of fact, they are the ones who act as a launch pad for every new organizational policy to its people and assure it runs smooth and effective. They are the first ones to put confidence in any change about to be brought and also the first one to raise voice if change doesn’t benefit its people. So HR in its true sense is an enabler for quite a few tasks.

2 HR as a facilitator- Ask yourself, whenever you need anything in an organization who is the first one to hear you, probably we all know the answer but to reaffirm again its our very own HR. We love to talk to him and share our matters openly. He acts just as guy/girl living next door but it takes loads of patience, commitment, perseverance and tolerance to admit it. So he’s the one who uses organization resources for our best interests and to that we are immensely thankful.so closely with management. 3 HR as a counselor- When we are in doubt or going through a rough patch at workplace, we all find our solace in talking to HR about it. It relieves half of the pain actually saying it, leave the problem aside. Here definitely HR should have strong interpersonal skills and wit to handle the matters at worst. Long before HR systems were introduced counseling techniques have helped big organizations rise and shine. So HR should be of conciliatory nature also.

4 HR as a mediator- One thing that can may peace in the world is to simply accept the fact; conflicts are part of life and we can’t avoid it. Amazing people with exclusive mindsets perceive things in the most uncommon way and gives different stimuli in same situations every time. So there is a lot to learn about Human behavior at workplace. An able HR, who does great sense of constructive criticism and acclaims a person for his contribution can bring the best from all of us. I hope we all yearn for that.

5 HR as a Role model- We really get to see few HR as a Role model who displays the work culture, vision that company beholds, workforce that they aspires to build and most important unison with the organizational philosophy. To get this mix today is really difficult because what people say they may not do and what they do, may not be said. So HR is the one who symbolizes the company culture and trend so that one can play a decisive role with full dedication and integrity.
