What is HR marketing?
HR marketing can be defined as the activities undertaken by an organization for attracting and retaining the best talents towards them e.g. marketing the job opportunities, marketing the training programs for the internal employees etc. Hr marketing applies marketing concepts to HR thus makes it easy for an organization to hire and retain resources.
What media is used for HR marketing?
Conventional or Traditional media or Industrial media which includes:
Print media such as news paper advertisements, brochures, flyers, magazines etc.
Company presentations and so on
Non- Conventional media which includes:
Web 2.0 social media such as facebook, twitter, you tube, linked in, myspace, xing, wikipedia, slide share, sribd, web blogs etc
Virtual job fairs
Job portals like monster, career builder, dice, hot jobs, net temps, sc guild, dev bistro, step stone, naukri etc.
Next comes the question of media selection. There should be a careful selection of media, factors like target audience and the best way to reach them, popularity of the media in the market are to be considered. When I used to look for hiring interns in US market I used to prefer a website called experience.com which has a great pool of student database which makes it easy to reach my target audience. A best media is the one which reaches and conveys the relevant message to the maximum number of target audiences.
Why is HR marketing important?
For too long, Marketers have been content to focus on messaging and media while considering activities like recruiting and training to be the concern of support or operations departments. In our newly social world, in which employees create or cause interactions that can impact the perceptions of many, Marketers cannot ignore how brands are altered by employee actions and communications. Now, brand management isn’t about what you say you are, it’s about who you are, and this is what makes HR the new Marketing.
So I would like to leave a not here that HR marketing is a new form of HR which projects your place as “Best place to work” and thus creating a strong Employer brand
