HR marketing organization: Step 2

So let us move to the second step in HR marketing- HR marketing organization.
Once the HR marketing goals are set then it is time to decide on the HR marketing organization. In some companies there are separate HR marketing departments dedicated to HR marketing activities and in some organization it is considered as a part of HR activities. This mainly depends on HR marketing goals like number of professionals to be hired within a span of time for e.g. a company with planning to hire 10000 resources within a span of one year will need to follow extensive HR marketing activities and will prefer dedicating a department just for HR marketing activities or even for outsourcing it to a consulting organization. I recently read an interesting case study of Siemens outsourcing its HR marketing activities for its finance excellence program to Milch und Zucker for more information check out the case study in http://www.milchundzucker.de/2006/wms/muz/index.php?ci=1&langua...

So we can say that HR marketing organization structure differs according to the organizations.

Who should be a part of HR marketing organization?

HR marketing organization should consist of creative, innovative and energetic professionals. It should ideally consist of professionals from HR, Marketing & Communications departments so that it makes the HR marketing organization a perfect one. But it differs from company to company, some prefer HR professionals to control the entire HR marketing activities while some use both HR and marketing resources.
I strongly feel that recruiters should be a vital part of the HR marketing activities since they hold direct contact with the prospective candidates and are aggressively involved in hiring activities so they can play a vital role in HR marketing activities for hiring. From my personal experience working as a recruiter I was very much involved in HR marketing activities like creating advertising campaign message, creating campaign strategy like choosing the media mix and running the campaign in various medias, checking the effectiveness of the media and revising the campaign strategy if necessary and was successful in HR marketing. So I strongly recommend recruiters to be included in HR marketing organization. HR marketing organization should also consist of marketing and communication professionals like creative designers who can support the activities and thus constantly striving for innovation. A dedicated HR marketing will make things easier and will increase the efficiency of organization’s HR marketing activities.
Once the HR marketing team is formed then you should move on to the next step that is “pre-campaign research and analysis” which I will publish in my next post
