India has long been known as the outsourcing capital of the world, so much so that Bangalore, a city in south India, has become a by-word for outsourcing itself! This, of course, can be attributed to the vast success and expertise of Indian IT companies.
Indian IT companies started off as outsourcing hubs. Among the earliest companies in this field were Patni Computers, Infosys (which was founded by former employees of Patni Computers), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HCL, and Satyam. With a deep and rich engineering culture, these companies were at just the right juncture to take advantage of the computer revolution of the 90s, along with the economic reforms in India in 1991 that relaxed controls on business. The growth of these companies was exponential, and many went public by mid 90s.
However, Indian IT companies including SEO services aren’t merely outsourcing hubs. Of late, they have increasingly started creating their own software and hardware products, which is an indicator of the growing confidence and willingness to innovate in these companies.
Indian IT companies owe their success to the emphasis placed on education, especially technical education, in the Indian society. Engineering and other technical fields have been a priority among students for the past several decades, and this has contributed a great deal to the available pool of talent. IT companies with access to this pool can easily scale up and become outsourcing giants.
Moreover, Indian IT companies can also owe their success to their willingness to create processes and solutions customized for each client, no matter how big or small. The consequence is that many of these multi-billion dollar enterprises are still run like small businesses, which gives them the ability to evolve and adapt quickly to changing customer requirements.
The favourable business conditions, of course, have had a role to play in the success of these companies. With relaxed norms and controls post 1991 economic reforms, Indian companies were free to exploit opportunities globally.
But perhaps the greatest reason for the success of Indian IT companies is their ability to deliver quality results at a low price. Many Europe and US based MNCs employ Indian IT companies as outsourcing partners to cut down on costs.
Overall, it is a combination of low cost quality services, huge available pool of talent, and favourable economic conditions that have made Indian IT companies among the very best in the world
