Introduction to the Independent Recruiter's Reality

If you have any experience as an executive at a large company, then there are chances you have had exposure to some sort of business coach or life coach. As a Recruitment Professional, we are lucky if we have had access to a coach through our local gym. Even if your average Recruitment Professional had access to a coach, the chances that we would approach them for assistance are probably nonexistent.

Rightfully so,  as who really wants to approach someone to ask about those love handles that just will not let go, then come to find out that the coach has no clue what you are talking about?  In reality, they typical coach one has access to corporately are just not suited to help you through “your kind” of problems.

In the past three years as The Recruiter’s Coach, I have been steadily introduced the coaching concept to Recruitment Professionals.  When a Recruitment Professional finally does reach out to me and strike up that coaching conversation, they are immediately relived to have found someone from the profession who “gets it.”  The frustration in working the process, the sense of defeat when a client or candidate lets us down, and the over the top sensation when it all comes together to make an actual hire.

Now, *I* can continue to ply you with my writings, promise you that I don’t really bite, and assure you that as a Recruitment Professional you are COMPLETELY normal..

Or, I can let someone that I am coaching share with you what it’s *actually* like to be coached.

So, before you climb back under your desk and tell that candidate he’s a jerk (or even worse and leave the industry completely!), let me introduce you to a new perspective:

“The Independent-Recruiter’s Reality” by VIR

The Independent Recruiter’s Reality is the actual diary of a veteran “Independent Recruiter” who is currently running his own profitable business.  To give him the freedom to express his true thoughts, concerns and frustrations, all his posts will be under the pseudonym of VIR.

We have agreed I will not edit his entries, and he has agreed to share with you his unique perspective. His perspective of being a Recruitment Professional, a Business Owner and a first-hand account of being coached by the Recruiter’s Coach.

Stay tuned for his first post tomorrow: “The Feel and the Real”
