In part 3 of my Sourcecon posts we will discuss the things that came from the George Bool track and general sessions. We will deal with day 1 in this post.

The opening of Sourcecon saw Jim Stroud do his thing. He spoke about Facebook and the stats that go with it, how Facebook has a massive global reach over 7 billion worldwide as of June 2016. Despite the popularity of Facebook email is still the preferred way to communicate. Job boards are evolving, talk about email, filtering and how to get around it.

Shannon Pritchett talked about the state of sourcing. She used a persona names Danni to represent the results.  Five favorite tools; Hiretual, Contactout, Connectifier, Lusha, Hiring Solved. Tools for boolean; Recruitem, Sourcehub, Airs. Source of online hires; Likedin, Indeed, Facebook, Github, and Twitter. Other tools; Entelo, 360 Social, Dice open Web, Rocketreach, Swoop Talent, Talentbin, and Yatedo.

Next up Mark Tortorici, and one of the first things he says is Google has tons of resumes” and he is right. He talks about getting the right number of results and adding or subtracting words to get there. He mentions other sources like Linkedin, Github, Indeed, with the key point being ensuring you are using the right criteria to search.

Next Aaron Daniels, and his presentation was mostly about engagement and builder trust. Then where to look and find info. Tools mentioned; Hiretual, 360social, Dataminer, Lusha, LeadIQ, Prophet, Snovio, Hiringsovled, And Pipl.

Then comes Angela Bortolussia, who spoke about the stuff you need to do prior to sourcing. Things like competitive intelligence, talent mapping, Personas, and dealing with Hiring Managers (HM). Tools mentioned are’ Talismatic, Batterii, Coggle,

Next up Maisha Cannon who spoke a lot about branding and were to brand. However she went through a nice chart of were sourcing and branding has going over the years starting in 1994 and the use of newspapers, fax machines etc, and all the way through now with the key being refresh, refresh, refresh. Meaning change with the times.

That’s all for Part 3. Until next week when we do day 2 of the George Bool track and general sessions.
