Recruiting Tip: Using SimplyHired and LinkedIn for Sourcing Leads

Today’s "Top Echelon Recruiting Tip" comes from industry trainer Greg Doersching of The Griffin Group. The tip involves using both a job board and social media in order to uncover the name of a hiring authority at a company that’s currently looking to fill a position.

Step 1: Browse to www.simplyhired.com.

Step 2: Conduct a search for a particular position within your niche. (Example: "Engineer" in "Cleveland, Ohio.")

Step 3: Once the results of your search appear, click the “Who Do I Know” button at the top of the results list, right next to the LinkedIn symbol.

Step 4: Login to LinkedIn if you’re prompted to do so.

Step 5: Scroll down through the search results again. Notice anything different? You should now see the names of people in your contact list who know people at the company looking to hire. Not only does it give the name of the person at the company, their title is also listed. So if they’re a decision maker . . .

Step 6: Click on that person’s name, which is a link to their LinkedIn profile. On that profile, you may have access to that person’s phone number. If not, you can still call the company and ask for the extension of that person.

Step 7: Call the decision maker, make a marketing presentation, or present a MPC (Most Place-able Candidate) for consideration for their open position.

Although your level of success might vary due to a number of different factors, this tip helps you uncover the names and numbers of key decision makers at companies that are currently looking to hire!

Hi Matt an impressive writeup on using Linked In for sourcing leads, I just want to add more on the linked in Groups component on which people are still not much aware of, Hence we from TargetRecruit have created a small writeup on it at http://bit.ly/cpnlrW, which i believe will be useful for people to get the idea on.

Hi Matt

>uncover the name of a hiring authority at a company that’s currently looking to fill a position

Many time recruiters don't know anyone at a company and don't have a way to contact them, but they do know the title of the hiring manager.

For those instances eGrabber has a product called LeadResearcher.
If you type in the company name and the hiring manager title, LeadResearcher will research the internet and get the missing details like Name of people holding that title, their email and phone number.
This will enable recruiters now to follow-up more effectively.

Thank you for showing the job board technique.
