Big Brother isn’t the only one that can keep tabs on where you are in the U.S. More and more companies and recruiters are jumping on the bandwagon and tracking where the candidates that apply to their positions are coming from geographically. But the real question is: what can you do with this information and how can you use it to optimize your recruitment marketing strategy?
One of our clients has been using the geo-location data that we provide in a very unique way and I think it’s a great way to utilize this data. Here’s their story:
For every job ad they post, they make sure to look at the geo-location data closely. It was a few weeks ago when they noticed that one of their job ads had unexpected geo-location results with a majority of their qualified candidates coming from one state in particular. Due to seeing these ads in real-time, they were able to make a quick decision to specifically target the state by sending out another group of targeted job ads. By re-creating their job ad messaging and targeting state specific boards with these job ads, they were able to increase their overall applicant pool by 200% as well as add 300% more contacts to their Talent Network through an opt-in page that they included in their apply process.
Through real-time recruitment metrics, they were able to easily identify a target group and implement a strategy to target a selected group. Geo-Location metrics can be a valuable piece of information to collect and leverage in your recruitment marketing campaigns. Identify the locations that are bringing in the most qualified candidates and create specifically targeted job ads targeted to these locations.
Most importantly, utilize the metrics that you collect on your recruitment funnel. Experiment with new recruiting methods when you find compelling recruiting data and test it to see if it is a strategy you want to use for future job campaigns. Think creatively and reap the rewards!
