On this blog, I speak a good deal about the importance of collecting metrics in your recruitment metrics and how these metrics can help you make better recruiting decisions. Every once in a while I like to share real life examples that I come across that show off the benefits of recruitment metrics. Here’s this week’s example!
I was speaking with a client the other day and they shared with me a success story of how they were able to use the recruitment metrics they collect to “fire” a major job board they were using and save over $60,000 a year in their recruiting budget. Here’s their story:
BEFORE
For every job ad that they distributed, they would post the ad to a major job board (with which they had a $70,000 contract with) as well as job aggregation site Indeed. After over 6 months of collecting recruitment metrics from every job they posted, they were able to realize that Indeed was performing better for their job ads than the major job board. With the job board not performing as well, they decided they would try something that would have been unthinkable before recruitment metrics. They decided to “fire” the major job board after their contract was up.
NOW
Today, the company posts a majority of their jobs through Indeed as well as purchases a few sponsored ads on the site. They are collecting the same if not more qualified candidates for every job ad they post than they did before (depending on the job type). And even with the sponsored ads on Indeed, they are saving nearly $60,000 a year on recruiting that they’ve been able to put toward other recruiting efforts. All because of the recruitment metrics they collect.
Important: Now I want to stress that this is one example for one company. The metrics that you collect may and probably will tell you something totally different about your recruitment marketing funnel. The key is to collect these metrics and set up a process for analyzing the data. Once you have this analysis, you will be able to make the best recruiting decisions for your company. Decisions that you can have confidence in!
