If your organization is like many, the weeks around Christmas and New Years make your office look like a ghost town. With most of your colleagues (rightly) taking time off during the Holiday season, there’s little that can be done in the office and you need something to do instead outside of your Holiday parties.
So here’s what I propose: make a Christmas wish list! No, not a list of things you should get for your family & relatives (you should have already shopped for those) but a recruiting wish list.
Sit down and think of what things would be at the top of your wish list for your recruiting organization.
What things, if you had them, would help you do your job better and help your organization bring in the very best talent.
Here are a few areas that may make it on your list:
Better Data: You want better recruitment metrics that can help you know what recruiting channels (job boards, social networks, emails, SMS, etc.) are bringing in the most applicants and hires into your organization. You also want to know how many final candidates that don’t end up with positions are brought back when a new position opens up.
More Leads: When you are looking for a qualified candidate for a open job position, you would like a greater pool of candidates to filter through. How can we collect more qualified candidates and make them available to our recruiters so they can find the best candidates for the position more easily and quickly? In addition, what can you do to identify the recruiting channels that bring more qualified candidates into your ATS?
New Technologies: You’ve heard a lot about new recruiting channels such as Social Recruiting and Mobile Recruiting. How can we leverage these technologies within our current recruiting process affordably?
The key is to not just write down this Wish List but share it with people within your recruitment marketing organization. See if your wish list matches others and research how your organization can turn these wishes into reality in 2011. Make the most of your precious time this holiday season!
