This is part of what makes ME a SmartRecruiter:
1) I believe that what we are doing is very important work. People identify themselves by what they do for a living and what I do is help them along in their career. A smart recruiter helps the candidate find a good job AND the employers find a good employee. Never put a round peg in a square hole.
2) I believe that Networking is very important. It helps all of us to have resources, people we can turn to for advice or guidance or referrals.
3) I believe in continuing education. I openly admit that I do not know everything about this industry. Someone else may have a new idea or may say something to trigger a new idea from me. I go to at least one industry conference per year, usually the California Staffing Professionals meeting in May.
4) I believe that having open lines of Communication is critical to success. This, of course, means keeping everyone up to date on the current orders but also includes keeping in touch with prospective clients and passive candidates – by phone, by email & by newsletter. Becoming a resource for prospective clients and passive candidates by letting them know that I am available to them but also by sending them information relevant to their careers.
5) And saving the best for last. I can usually tell people what they want to hear without coming off as being insincere. For example, as a smart recruiter, I am always interested in hearing about the latest and greatest in Applicant Tracking Software. Who doesn't want to know about tools they can use to make them more successful?
