My pet hates include: waste!

Give what you don’t want to someone who does – why not. Think Karma. Cooperate.

The supply of candidates to Employers by Agencies is rigidly controlled by preferred supplier agreements. So if you have say 100 Employers hiring within the Tech sector, you’ll have 100 PSLs. Now some of the bigger Recruitment firms may be on all the PSLs but it is likely that the 100 PSLs will each have a different line up of suppliers and that line up will be a tiny fraction of the total supplier market.

So if Recruiter A is on the PSL1 but not on PSL2, and PSL2 has a job that RecruiterA has the perfect candidate for, nothing is going to happen.

It’s like ships passing in the night! That’s hugely inefficient.

Let’s say that the Recruiters on PSL2 struggle to find a great candidate and suggest to their client that they could put the job out to all Recruiters via the Vacancy-Clearing portal, that way RecruiterA could access it and supply it’s perfect candidate.

Let’s now imagine all Recruiters adopt this cooperative approach. You drive your unfilled jobs into the Vacancy-Clearing portal and you take out someone else’s unfilled jobs that you have candidates for. Suddenly no waste!

Some say Recruiters will not adopt this approach as it is effectively an admission of failure. I say if they do not they are wantonly wasteful. Waste and inefficiency means higher prices and in a world that values austerity and efficiency, they will find themselves increasingly marginalised.

Sounds like socialism to me.  And the question is who controls the co-operative?  Not in my life time sport.

Sandra - here's to your long and healthy life!

David, I'm sure you were trying to be funny in your response to Sandra, but perhaps it's "karmically" dicey.

My ex husband felt the same way.  We will miss him.  :)
