When you are looking for a job in today's job market, the key is to know the right people. Experts all over television, career websites, radio, and online media all point to your network of associates as playing the vital role of landing your next position.

However, at the same time, how many people actually know any sales recruiters? It's not as if you meet them at the local coffee shop and hand over your resume. With online tools, websites, career boards, and social networks, the ways to meet sales recruiters though is rapidly changing. With websites like LinkedIn, Brassring.com, Glassdoor.com, and others, the recruiters are they’re posting and looking for talented sales professionals more than ever.

When sales jobs are available though, hundreds of applicants will apply for the same position and the recruiters get overwhelmed with responses, as one would imagine. Therefore, by researching your industry, pinpointing the companies, you want to work for, and reaching out to the recruiters early, you can gain an upper edge in the race to land a new sales career.

For example, let's say you are pharmaceutical sales representative and looking for a pharmaceutical sales job. You might research the top ten companies, find 5 or 6 you want to work for, reach out to the pharmaceutical sales recruiters on the websites like LinkedIn, Brassring, and others and forward your resume to them along with a cover letter of accomplishments. That way, when they are looking for their next sales position, you come to the top of their list.

The same goes for medical sales professionals. By reaching out to the medical sales recruiters early and making phone calls and emails early, you can establish your identity with them and gain an interview when a position when it opens up. In the latest example, it is vitally important to reach out to the medical sales recruiters early as they are bombarded with sales resumes when a position opens up, and gaining any advantage is key in that sector of careers.

Other places to find sales recruiters are on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, and others and job boards that focus on your career. Finding the next sales opportunity may not be an easy job, but once you network with the right sales recruiter, you'll have a friend for life who can guide your sales career from one position to the next with ease. Don't be afraid, as the one who sits idle, often will wait the longest to land that next job.
