Recruitment Nightmares- You can't make this stuff up: how not to write a cover letter

This is an actual cover letter, names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Dear Sirs,

No I think the gentleman is just strange.  I actually called him, just to see how bad it would really be and I was couldn't get a word in for 10 minutes as he rambled on about nothing in particular.  Waste of time?  Definitely.  Entertaining?  Absolutely.

Wait. people still do cover letters? They say the resume is dead or dying.  The cover letter must be a zombie then.
