What should you do if you are a new person in a new job? The first thing is to build trust. It  can be really hard for some people when they become a new member of a team, and it is not always easy hard to start communication with a group of strangers. So here you are a simple, but still very helpful, list for you to learn how to become friends with your new coworkers. Practice these points to build trust and learn these behavioural tricks and advice to form relationships more easily. The main thing is for every person to prove themselves to be trustworthy. Here are some tips:

  1. It is really important for you to be honest and start right from the interview for the new job. Actually, it is always very useful; you should answer all questions honestly to build a reputation as an honest person. People will respect and trust you.
  2. Always remember to be realistic about your job and role. Try to remain calm in stressful situations and don't forget to help others with their troubles. Recognize and analyze all the risks before taking action.
  3. Do not try to hide any information from others. It is very helpful to share information, so try to do that with you colleagues whenever you can,  but only if it is not something confidential.
  4. Try to be consistent: you should always practice what you preach. Your actions speak louder than words, and they should reflect what you say.
  5. Treat every person with respect and do not be afraid to show it. It is good when you show an interest in other people, but try to be sincere so you can become a friend to everyone.
  6. Follow through with your promises. If you made a promise, you should try to make sure you do it. A simple example is a promise to call. Even if you are too busy, just try to find a minute to make the call.
  7. Be clear and consistent. If you are constant, people will trust you. If you want to change direction in something, try to do it gently, so people can rely on you.
  8. Be communicative. Do not be afraid to talk to people, because trust is built on communication. Try to talk sincerely and kindly.

Remember that nothing happens by itself. The trust-building process is long and hard. It is impossible for you to change people, but you can change your behaviour to become their friend and a person they can trust. Think about your habits and if they are appropriate for your new surroundings. Do not forget to practice these tips - this is the process of building bridges before you even need them.
