Recruiters just wanna be remote.

Thats the conclusion I've reached after belonging to various Facebook recruiter groups. They post messages like this;

Currently on Indeed.com there are over 13,000 recruiter jobs but less than10% of them are listed as remote.

Why?

Recruiting and sourcing are roles that can be done from literally anywhere. But I believe as the remote work revolution continues to gain steam we will see more and more Recruiters and Sourcers working from home.

It's one of the main reasons I started HR Lancers. I think there is a pent up demand among recruiting professionals to take control over their work lives and enjoy a more flexible work day.

Using tools like Zoom and Slack you can stay in touch with the office and hiring managers. You can still go to the office every quarter or so to establish and maintain relationships. In their 2019 study about remote work, social media company Buffer says that;

"99% said they would like to work remotely at least some of the time for the rest of their careers. This is a notable stat to have discovered; while remote work is sometimes portrayed as a trend, these results seem to infer that this way of working is here to stay."

Good recruiters and sourcers are hard to find these days but if you made at least some of your roles open to remote you will have a much wider pool of talent to choose from. PLUS it will be a lot easier to recruit them. In my experience remote roles get 5X-10X more applicants!

Now is the time for remote work to become the norm. The technology is there. The demand is there. Employers just need the will to make it happen.
