We talk a lot in my organisation about the need for flexibility and adaptability, the old ability to roll with the punches so to speak, whilst still mananging to achieve something of real value. Man am I living that this year...
I blogged earlier this year about my company doubting whether or not my team and i could deliver what they wanted us to. I am proud to say now that we did and more! To the point where we ended up having potentially more people then we really needed. Yay us...? Then the economy changed, the world turned, the planets were no longer in alignment. Now instead of having an amazing target of having 100 IT staff start between Sept and Dec as my CEO had decided we'd do (and were really close to delivering) we as a team have gained new territory and are now a truely a national Recruiting team, and are half the size! We lost a Recruiter in an interstate office, I lost a Recruiter to our HR function and another has now left for maternity leave.

What difference a couple of weeks make. From wondering, planning, schemeing how I was going to get all these people by Dec 1, I am now in an old predicament and needing to devise how my team of 3 will cover the whole country seamlessly... Gotta love this game.

Add value and delivering, will have to be the core mantra's, in the most cost effective manner. whilst keeping the team positive and motivated in tough times is a challenge I know will hold me in good stead in the future. This is not the first speedhump we have faced, and I truely hope it isn't the last! I mean what fun would life be without the ups and downs. Ahh the ramblings of a tired Recruiter... can't wait to report more on our wins in the future.

I will stop now as I fear more tangents escaping my fingers.
