So this post starts what will be a multi part posting on different pre constructed boolean search strings. Today search strings are designed to find company, college and Organizations/Associations. Keep in mind these strings can be combined with others to for larger more specific search strings. Also keep in mind there are several ways to construct a search string, I am only using one way, there are others. In some cases I will be providing 2 different search strings, 1 will be for most search engines, meta search engines, and ATS or HRIS systems, the other will be for those search engines, meta search engines, and ATS or HRIS systems that are limited in how many words can be used.

So on to the search strings.

Search Targeted Companies

Position title AND (a list of companies) AND the people or resume power search string. (e.g. "software engineer" AND (intel OR motorola OR sun OR nortel) AND (title:people OR url:people …)

Search Targeted Colleges

(harvard OR standford OR mit) AND "software engineer" AND (title:alumni OR url:alumni OR title:graduate* OR url:gradutae* OR title:masters OR url:masters OR title:resume* OR url:resume* OR title:staff OR url:staff OR title:faculty OR url:faculty)

Search Targeted Organizations/Associations

(organization name) AND (title:member* OR url:member* OR title:attendees OR url:attendees OR title:directory OR url:directory OR title:officers OR url:officers OR title:directors OR url:directors OR title:chapter* OR url:chapter* ….etc)

In part 3 we will see searches for Marketing people, we will focus on Technical Product Marketing, but the string will work for any marketing position.
