So I am moving into a new role shortly back into a passion of mine - recruitment technology.  I know - hated by many (most?) recruiters but I love technology so making it work for recruitment, another passion of mine, is a dream job for me.  So from this very large community, what do you love and hate about recruitment technology?  What would you want from your dream software (other than the ability to read your mind and then make all the necessary changes)?  If you could design your own, what feature would you love to have in it?

I appreciate any feedback as I step back into this world :)  (note this is corporate recruitment).

Great topic Erin. For me the reporting packages available in most systems are not robust enough. I'd like to see deep reporting abilities. For example: I'd to see a true CRM function built into some of the software that have significant tracking ability. Deeper than the standard clicks and open rates. 99% of the software available today in our space have about 25% of the power outside the industry software has.

It's pretty sad how primitive enterprise recruiting technology really is.

Thanks Ryan - I agree reporting can be iffy on a lot of the systems and when I speak with managers and VPs it is one of their biggest pet peeves.

it all comes down to reporting, and ease to edit entries instead of having to rework them or start over. Often recruiters are asked to validate work with metrics about 10 minutes before a meeting or real time in a call. and the ease and speed to get to those numbers is vital.

Good point Emily. That's an argument that seems to be swept under the rug with the vendors.

I would like to see usability improved on core functions-- streamline the tasks that recruiters spend the most time on - adding resumes, updating records, logging activities.

Ability to create better custom reports- pipeline of candidates across job orders, better business intelligence to see what sources are working, cost per hire, etc.

Thanks everyone - it really seems that reporting is a really key point.

And Amy, I agree that improvement on core functions for ease of use is something I need to really focus on - I know you are a Taleo user and if it isn't configured well it can be very painful.
