Announced todayfrom Art Pappas, CEO at Bullhorn:
I'm excited to bring you news that Bullhorn has acquired two fantastic recruiting software companies, Sendouts and MaxHire Solutions. Through this acquisition, Bullhorn has increased its depth of knowledge in the staffing industry by putting together the world's most experienced recruiting software team. What this means for you is the acceleration to market of a new, 100% cloud-based product that will work on any browser and any device. Put simply, the future of cross-platform, mobile-friendly staffing software is right around the corner.
Joining forces with Sendouts and MaxHire Solutions means that we have also added a talented pool of sales and services professionals to the team in the Central and West regions of North America. Our expanded footprint means you will benefit from even greater levels of support and service moving forward.
I will continue to serve as Bullhorn's CEO and look forward to adding Peter Blitz, Founder & CEO of MaxHire, and Brian Hopcraft, President & CEO of Sendouts, to the Bullhorn management team, effective immediately.

Thanks for posting Roni. This is big news. I am very happy for Art and Bullhorn...and wish them continued luck. All three companies have worked with us and I have used each system personally. It will be interesting to see where they take these technologies...
WOW - big news indeed! Congrats Art and the entire Bullhorn Team!
I was with Bullhorn for years.. recently left them (though still under contact) and moved my data (manually) to Sendouts 2 weeks ago!! LOL!!
Since all of these systems lacked something, I am hopeful the newly merged company and platform will be the most robust of them all!!
I'll be happy to just see the long awaited & recently promised iphone/ipad app at this point. I do hope cross platform/browser capabilities are truly on the way. Enjoy BH, but frustrated in the lagging interfaces.
with Bullhorn buying the 2 big players who would you switch to for a new ATS solution
Sad day for this business. Innovation is driven by competition. Each of these products was good, in may ways, BECAUSE of the other. It's a very small market, and consolidating the primary competitors is unlikely to be a positive for the products or the customers. The company with the "better mousetrap" doesn't always win. Many times it's the company with superior marketing or some other advantage that comes out on top. When that company is then able to acquire it's competitors, the customer loses. Despite the official line from the new company's management, I would expect less innovation, poorer customer service and higher prices in the future.
Here is how another vendor is spinning it ( I have removed their name and subsequent sales pitch) They do make relevant points...

As many people are hearing through industry channels, Bullhorn has acquired two other staffing software vendors, Sendouts and Maxhire. Here at XXXX, we think this is a great opportunity for companies to start asking some big questions about what to do next. Do I want to risk being forced onto a new platform in the next couple of months or years? Should I start looking at newer options? Is the new solution going to address the need to run on Mac and other browsers? Do I want to wait to see what happens and be potentially forced onto a solution that does not fit my long term needs? How much is it going to cost me internally, to change to whatever this new merged solution is going to be? |
Great News.. Congratulations to the entire Bullhorn Family.!
Great article and being one of the other top vendors in the space, BrightMove has to take special interest in this big news.
Acquisitions can typically be a very tough thing for both the acquired and the acquiring vendors and their customers. History has shown that the transition process can be challenging and costly from a time, support and resource perspective. Not to mention the change management.
BrightMove has just announced free conversion options for Bullhorn, Maxhire and Sendouts users which may be of interest.
Just go to BrightMove and request more information. Mention you are coming from one of these vendors and it is that simple. Ask about competitive pricing discounts as well.
BrightMove gives recruiters access to over 1000 sources and over 20,000 corporate job sites for skill marketing. It also works on Mac as well as all major browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari)
Thank You,

Groped I to find them; had my desire. Finger’d their packet
Maxencrantz and Sendenstern
No, not to stay the grinding of the axe,
But wilt thou hear me how I did proceed?
As love between them like the palm might flourish
Without debatement further, more or less
Sat me down, devised a new commission, wrote it fair
Should the bearers put to sudden death
So Maxhire and Sendouts go to it
- para Hamlet, Act 5, Scene Two
There is one vendor who benefits especially from this transaction, at least in the short/medium term; one that already is cross-platform, well-known, and an everyday competitor to all three former rivals.
Good stuff, Bard

Let's hope Sendouts and Maxhire can help Bullhorn in the Customer Service department. In a separate post Andrew Hally alluded to the new acquisitions great customer service and somehow suggested that Bullhorn fell into the same category.
I have however had a horrendous experience with Bullhorn in the 5 months since signing on and am still sitting with a half-implemented system - for the full details check out Seriously Frustrated Bullhorn customer. The short and simple version is that we are expected to pay for the month of July, despite only receiving logins to the system in mid-August. The official party line is that all SAAS based systems operate in this manner - Ie. client expected to pay from sign on date. I need to research if this is the case, but even if it is, doesn't mean it's correct and maybe SAAS based systems need a shake up so that people aren't expected to pay for something they can't use. In addition to that, there has been a litany of lengthy, drawn-out and painful customer services interactions and the Activity Centre (one of the key bits of functionality that contributed to my eventual decision to choose Bullhorn) is still not working. I actually found out about these acquisitions when revisiting Sendouts as a possible alternative to Bullhorn. Now there isn't much point. The corporate culture of Sendouts will be doubtless be swallowed up by the larger organisation with antiquated and inflexible approach to customer service. Good luck Sendouts. I think you'll need it.
