Have you found a job (or hired/recruited someone) from social networking sites? (LinkedIn, FaceBook, Twitter)

I'm writing an article for our GO Jobs job board newsletter about professional networking.

I'm looking to share stories, successful strategies, tips, and any other useful information about what worked, what didn't, etc.

If you have hired someone through LinkedIn, Twitter, FaceBook, etc:
"What was your process and results?"

If you have been hired through LinkedIn, FaceBook, Twitter:, "What happened?
Did you reach out to someone?
Did they find you?
How big/small is your network?

All comments are welcome.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Jonathan

I have not landed yet, but I'm aggressively in pursuit through the use of several social media approaches. While, my approach is constant work in progress and some of it purely experimental, I have gained some valuable insight regarding what has attracted interest and what has not. Thanks again for the prior feedback and I'll be in touch.

I have made several placements from candidates I sourced on LinkedIn through their search function - I don't use their job posting for client positions, but I do quite a bit of searching there. In addition to finding candidates through my LinkedIn searches, I have also had many more people on LinkedIn be willing to refer me to someone else and that has also resulted in placements.

I also have hired for my own team from LinkedIn. The person I hired for my recruiting team responded to a job posting that I put up - and our company is about to make an offer to another candidate who responded to a job posting we put up on LinkedIn for a product manager.

My first level network is over 300 but my third level network is over 6 Million.
Jonathan,

At the present moment I am using almost no postings on major job boards such as Monster or CareerBuilder. I have an ATS at my disposal, but there is not a wealth of candidates in it yet. As such, networking sites (specifically LinkedIn) are what I use to do recruiting. I have found several candidates via the search function in addition to looking at the networks of current connections in roles similar to the ones I am trying to fill. This combination of searching LI and working through current connections has proven to be quite successful.

In addition, I got the job I have now largely due to LinkedIn. I knew I wanted to work at Nissan and the person I wanted to work for here, but had lost his contact information. I found him on LinkedIn and once he accepted my request took the opportunity to present my credentials for a position that had recently been vacated. The rest, as they say, is history!

My current network stats are: 1,592 first level, 17+ million total network. Hope this helps!

Best,
Gino
