"I think I need to become a bit more proficient in the Boolean search"

"I think I need to become a bit more proficient in the Boolean search world to really maximize the Diver tool."
"When I did the trial I thought it was a good tool, but it would be more effective once I’m more proficient at search."

Some of you know that I've demoed Diver to potential users, running their target searches together with them. My impression is that many of the potential users would benefit from using Diver much more IF they learn how to do resume search efficiently without Diver, just on Google, to start with. See above some quotes from emails I got; this reflects many users' feelings about Diver.

For those who want to learn good search strings it's best to see and try examples.
I have recently learned about a framework with a collection of search strings called Resumefinder (from eGrabber). Resumefinder has a large collection of strings. Once you've tried and played with them you would feel on top of resume/contact info search on the web, I think.
You can try Resumefinder 2008 for free here. http://tinyurl.com/474ku8
Any other resources out there?

For those who are already good at search, please note that you can get Diver at a $100 discount till the end of September. Download your free 7-day Diver trial at www.broadlook.com/braingain if you haven't, to see whether you want to take advantage of this.

Irina, if I may also recommend, there are 2 trainers in the Boolean string space that may be worth investigating. I'm not suggesting that I'm down on technology, but I think technology works best when laid on top of a strong foundation. Otherwise, the technology is judged upon its ability to be a 'silver bullet'.

The 2 trainers I recommend are Moises Lopez at The Sourcing Corner or Shally Steckerl of Job Machine.

Each has their own unique style of presentation and are worth looking into. Shally was the first to really grow the Boolean string market . . . and Moises is the newcomer phenom that everybody is talking about today. Personally, I think they're both great. There is also AIRS, but I haven't attended their training - for me, it's been Shally and Moises.

Shally offers some very affordable sourcing cheatsheets at JobMachine.net that are very effective if you're looking for quick results . . . while Moises takes the approach of teaching a sourcer "how to fish", detailing each nuance of the string and offering a body of knowledge they can build upon.

I'd look into their webinars or courses, cheatsheets, etc. . . . and then lay the technology on top of that body of knowledge.
