With that said, I have taken many of the JOBMACHINE webinars and seen those guys speak uncountable times at industry conferences and with a cheatsheet and some good ol' fasion curiosity I truthfully believe you can create your own edge by practicing and exploring new ideas with the cheats they give you (try plugging in your own mix of strings, think outside of the "search box"). Webinars and self-educating, that has been my key to success, but hey- I suppose I am a member of that geek squad who cares enough to click a few extra links and piece together a non-conventional puzzle and make it fit. Topic: RBC - Give and Take (Keeping the conversation on point): ur desk with others that can relate. A place where you can engage in conversation and share tips with other colleagues in your profession. A place to learn about new techniques and ways to go about using technology to source candidates. The RBC is still all those things, but topping that list is the fact that the RBC is a give and take stage. Lately it appears there has been a bit more taking. While I can only speak for myself (I'm sure the majority of the community will agree), I appreciate all the time and effort from members that do share content on this platform. It is what fuels the activity and ongoing conversation, but to those select few that post outbound links only void of any content, advertisements, non-appropriate material, and flat out spam - enough is enough. As recruiters we are always looking to find more time throughout the day and visiting the RBC and having to filter through all the noise is a task none of us have extra minutes for. Topic: What Would You Prefer Today From A Speaker: Motivation-Speak or Process-Speak?: . We may start on one topic, but the conversation may veer off on a slight tangent . . . upon which there are nuggets and insights that are beyond invaluable. To me, such is the power of a social network that encourages and embraces user-generated content. A previous discussion on RBC "The Risk of being Over Motivated - Bullhorn Live" along with the following quote from an (as always) intelligent Sumser blog post on "Radical Transparency", led me to reflect: "Motivational speakers, like Danny Cahill, rarely get taken to task for the views they express. The audience is charged at the end of the material and no questions are fielded. In the new environment, guys like that are going to have to change the way that they work." [Note: I think the takeaway for a former Million-Dollar biller like Danny Cahill might be to cut his presentation down by 5 minutes to field questions from those in the audience. Good advice, if you ask me.] Here's my question: Given today's economic times, what would you more prefer if you had a chance to see a Recruiting presentation?: a.
