StaffingU Living a Life of Whelm

Circumstances can seem overwhelming at times, and it may appear like there is domino effect of one event happening after another. Before you know it, feelings of overwhelm seem to take over and stop you in your tracks. It’s moments like these in work and life where I’ve heard people wish that they never got overwhelmed and, instead, had a life of consistent calm and underwhelm. If that condition persisted, I suspect…

Now is a good time to take a chance. If you’ve been thinking about hiring additional staff to capture more business next year, stop thinking about it and take the chance.…

Creating Better Beliefs

“If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” – Henry Ford

Clearly, Ford thought he could accomplish great feats in the automobile industry. And he did.

What have you been telling yourself you can’t do? Do you believe you can’t win a particular account? Are you telling yourself you can’t find a certain type of candidate? What negative messages have you been repeating about your inability to increase your margins or fees?

Hide and Seek

The game of hide-and-seek seems to be as popular today as it was when we played it as children. What a thrill to find that great hiding place or to be the person who is “it”. Finding quality clients ready to buy in the new economy reminds me in many ways of a really challenging game of hide-and-seek — some buyers seem to have found really great hiding places. David, an account manager for a firm in Virginia, recently shared that “not only do many of my prospects and clients seem… Continue

Cease and Desist Stinking Thinking

Persistent thoughts become pervasive beliefs and some of these reek of inaccurate assumptions and dangerous misinformation. For example, recruiters often think there is a waiting period before you can ask a new candidate for referrals, and salespeople frequently tell themselves that prospects aren’t willing to engage in detailed conversations. When did it become our job to set boundaries for other people?

Scientists have proven that humans are…

Staffing Industry WikiLeaks

Walk into any retail store this week and request disclosure of the markup on what they sell. When they turn you down, threaten that you’ll no longer do business there unless they share these proprietary particulars. You may not have started the practice of sharing markups with customers, yet, it’s your opportunity to change this… Continue
