Never place a candidate without getting something for yourself

I worked for a staffing firm many many years ago. One thing they always made us do was have the candidate come to our office to get their offer letter. Why? Because this is when we got what we wanted. More Names of people to call to place.

How you say.

We called the candidate, told them they got the job. At this point the candidates are so happy they will say YES to almost anything.

We then ask them to bring the most current copy of their Company…

How many of us think we plan for success. I want you all to try to do something for the next 5 days. I assure you it will help you be more productive and make more money.....

At 430 PM eveyday. Take 20 minuets and write down 25 people or client you need to call the next day. And call them,. Do this every day and tell me how you did at the end of 5 days.

Your phone number

I get an email from a friend or client and there is no phone number with it. It drive me crazy.

If there is a phone number I most likely call them back ASAP. But if I need to go look it up I may not. I think all email should have the following

Nothing is easy

I have been up for hrs thinking about where to find my next candidate. It did not take long but the most important tool I have is the phone. I hear recruiters ask all the time what is the best tool for this.

That is what they are tools.. But nothing beats the power of talking live to a candidate. You can hear their voice, you can hear if they are focused or do they have 5 dogs in the back barking out of control.

So pick up the phone and call call…

Back to the early days of recruiting

I use to work for a firm in VA. We had training from 8am to 830 eavery day. Then we got on the phone and called from 830 to Noon Candidates we wanted to talk to.

We were then allowed to check and return messages. Eat lunch and then from 1230 to 4pm we would get back on the phones for more power calling.

At 4pm we had to plan our next day and write out all the people we needed to call tomorrow. I did make alot of placements doing that. When I have trouble makeing…

There are good job boards out there.

The 2 I use the most are Monster and DICE.

What makes me a Smart Recruiter smartrecruiters

What makes me a smart recruiter after 20 years. I hate to open my secret but want to show you how smart i am.

Once you do a database search most people just start calling. Many data bases sort in ABC order. I always go to the end of the ABC and start calling at the end. Most of these candidate never get a call. So they are so glad when I call.

Also I tell candidates to list there resumes twice. for example.
