The Ice Age of Job Boards is Now - Unless They Evolve like KODA.

I’m surrounded by programmers. Nerdy types that get to wear jeans, sneakers and T-shirts. I feel like a rent-a-cop at a Phish concert sometimes. But hey, I was here first. I hired all these mealy mouth geeksters that bitch and moan about the work environment – when they have to turn on the lights.

I may have arrived too early, but I signed up for KODA (in Beta). It is an amazing social networking site for jobseekers. And, it’s also for Recruiters. Koda the name was inspired from a word in Native American languages of Dakota and Lakota meaning friend or ally.

What I really like about KODA, its replacing expensive traditional job boards. No offense to my pals over at some of the job boards, but they have hit their Ice Age. They are nearing the point of extinction, unless they evolve.

Comment by Ambrish Kochikar on August 5, 2009 at 12:13am: they're definitely on to something. it's like nothing else i've seen out there, certainly nothing like traditional resume boards. i'm eager to know how well designed the workflow is to enable weeding out fake or incomplete profiles like the ones you'd likely encounter on the average job board. lots to learn and eager to get down to it.

I'm unsure about mini-networks like Koda and their long term business model or sustainability and return versus Job boards. Thanks for pointing them out - it's definitely worth checking in on from time to time.
