Every organization has one and it is in plain sight

Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt, in his book the goal, describes a weekend camping trip with some scouts in which, one boy tended to lag behind the rest of the group resulting in the group  being delayed on their journey. The boy's name was Herbie.

Every organization is designed around a set of processes that ensure that the organization ca operate efficiently. However, processes tend to have their hiccups, either intended or unintended. The hiccups are your Herbie.

We cannot have a well-working process unless we eliminate the Herbie's in those processes. The odd thing is that each and every day in the workplace you see those Hrbie's, but we typically do not pay much attention to them. They usually result in your inability to complete a task on your desk. It might be the hiring manager who sits in on the resume of a candidate for an open position. It might be an outside vendor who stalls in returning the result sf a background check. They all result in the process not being done on time.

There are simple tools available to help you find your organizational Herbie's. Do you want to know more abot how these tools function? Contact us at dan@dbaiconsulting.com and we will help you find the right tool for your situation.
