Healthcare recruiters face their share of some unique recruiting challenges. With the passing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care act, recruiters know that they will continue to have an increasing volume of patients coming their way. With advances in medicine and science, people are living longer than ever before. Demand is increasing in both volume and duration. Set against that backdrop we have a well-publicized physician shortage looming – as much 90,000 shy by 2025. Not too mention the statistics around a coming doctor’s retirement bubble. “1 in 3 practicing physicians in the U.S. is over the age of 55 and close to retirement” according to Becker’s Hospital Review.
That is before we get into the regular challenges that we can all face as recruiters like financial constraints, sourcing talent, to issues beyond the scope of our role like the retention and engagement.
HR and talent acquisition are not known to be early adopters on the technology cycle either. There are a host of technologies available to help whether you are focusing on sourcing and finding candidates, social media networking, assessments, video interviewing technology, etc. but wading through the ocean of available software can be a challenge in its own right
We all face our own individual recruiting challenges each day. Whether you are working small and nimble with just your phone and an excel spreadsheet or you have the latest ATS and analytics package.
