Home Again: "Life's A Climb-But the View Sure is Great!"

"Life's A Climb-But the View Sure is Great!"-Mylee Cyrus-Hannah Montana The Movie

It was a year and a half ago, where I wrote my first blog on RecruitingBlogs.com when the forum was just getting started. It was 6 months ago, where the economy stole me away from my true career aspirations in staffing, where my heart and soul have been forged and honed. Here I stand in the midst of the economic and life changing climb-returning to staffing after a time I never saw coming. I had a stint in a temporary role in a HR Admin capacity covering a leave, and after that experience now find myself again engaged in a staffing/recruiting/sourcing role in another contract project.

When I wrote my first blog in this forum, I had made an amazing placement at Solutions Partners, Inc., where for 1 year of my life I felt I had found my niche-the apex, as I called it in that post. I had found it, I called the candidate at Vivus-the Assistant Controller I helped place a year and a half later, and she still sings my praises. She was so thankful, and continues to be so, I changed her life. I can change so many more.

Today, this is my career-I find myself in the Green Technology Space, and to this day I find that when my role in the contract HR position ended, I never foresaw I would be back to work again a week later.

I will sing a song on Friday at the BYU Management Society Silicon Valley Chapter Distinguised Service Awards and Scholarship Dinner, "The Climb" by Mylee Cyrus. Honored at the event will be the Police Chief of San Jose, the Honorable Rob Davis, and Russel Hancock, the CEO of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network. The theme of the evening on Friday is Rising to the Challenge. Appropriate are the words that follow from Cyrus:

THE CLIMB

I can almost see it
That dream I’m dreaming but
There’s a voice inside my head sayin,
You’ll never reach it,
Every step I’m taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

The struggles I’m facing,
The chances I’m taking
Sometimes they might knock me down but
No I’m not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I’m going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on,
cause

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

There’s always going to be another mountain
I’m always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Somebody's you're going to have to lose,
Ain’t about how fast I get there,
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the climb

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby
It’s all about
It’s all about
The climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith
Whoaaa Ohwaoooh

This very powerful song describes my mood. It is perfect for the event Friday where two leaders in the Silicon Valley will be honored. A year ago, I joined the board of the BYU Management Society: Silicon Valley Chapter. Through this network I have been able to help many. I created their Linked-In group, barely aware at the time how big the need truly was. And then my hours were cut to part-time, and I had to make a solid choice.

Today, I stand in an amazing world changing start-up, whose Green Technology Software will be a game changer.

Recruiting and Staffing have always been central to my HR career. It is staffing that came to my rescue again.

It is staffing where my heart and soul will always be. Life's a Climb, but the View Sure is Great! I remember looking down on Lake Tahoe, with my wife thinking my life had come together, yet, I found my niche, and then when the economy changed the focus, I find myself able again to make a difference.

I can hone my staffing skill set, and make it majestic, opening doors, creating revenue and growth.

A good time to be alive, a good time to make the most of whatever comes.

When my time at the HR Contract ended, I had registered for an event known as Career Reboot Camp. It was there I found myself, it was there I was privileged to watch a video from Brother David who organized a website: www.gratefulness.org, it was while watching this video I realized I had so much to be grateful for. Watch a video on his website entitled a "Good Day" and you will see just how blessed you are. And how much gratefulness should be central to every approach you undertake in your career.

And yet, there can be hope, as the economy finds its traction again, being in the right place at the right time will only mean future success.

I am home again, and my life is all about Rising to the Challenges of our Economic Times. So appropriate is the song I have chosen to sing this Friday in front of 200 people and 2 amazing men who have transformed the Silicon Valley.

Yet, I am home again in staffing, it is a place I can thrive, even in a temporary position, helping a Software Company in the green technology space grow and prosper.

So I know my capabilities, and success is just around the corner.

Life is all about changing your perspective. And Rising to the Challenges, while watching how you enjoy "The Climb" and View that is Great! can change your perspective and outcomes.

Welcome home to recruiting, hopefully this time I can stay for a while. I sure missed it.

And being in a start up, energizes me to succeed.

Life's a Climb-But the View is Great!

The view in Lake Tahoe when I posted my first blog here, was great, as I pondered and still ponder the whole of my life, and 6 wonderful anniversary years of my wife. If was on that 4th of July week, that I found myself and my niche. And as the rebound occurs staffing will be the place to be, to secure future financial independence for my family. That is the goal.

Amen.
