The Holiday Season-A Time For Renewal, For Positive Economic Perspective-And That Recruiter Calling Again?

MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR IS HERE!

There is a lot going on in our world right now, and it means more than ever that to be thankful for the gifts you have of life, perspective, career opportunity and rising to the mark, the occassion, and filling that difficult req means more now than ever.

I can't but help relish, the power that is in my career this very day to make a difference. That can happen by any means-becoming a brilliant superstar is all about your perspective.

This past week I tried doing the old recruiting way-picking up the phone and dialing-no emails, no tech gadgetry, of course I used those for name generation, but once I knew where the folks were I picked up the phone, I dialed, I asked for referrels, and I start to find that Maureen Sharib is right the phone is your best friend.

So, that recruiter guy is calling again? What now?

In this day of resume databanks, postings, social media, and other online "fads" is it any wonder that we can still pick up the phone and make a call? I grew up with all these toys and quite frankly I will always be a "people pleaser", a "people networker" and a "hopeful arbitrator of the people factor". There is important value adding perspective there.

I look at this time of year as a day of renewal, and new positive economic perspective. Being all about the end result the magical "fill" that makes everything tick, that is the power of our new day.

I used to think that it was all about the resume, the skills, the power behind the "presentation" and yes, all of these things matter. But by goodness, it is time to realize that people are not widgets, people are amazing creatures of destiny.

I love recruiting, it will always be the one part of HR that has some powerful gifts to leverage. Staffing always seems to show up when I need it. It comes to my rescue in my career when I need the next amazing day of hope.

I had wonderful professors in college who said HR was all about the people, about the strategy, and perspective.

Recruiting continues to evolve. But it was and will always be about the network. The network is the key to unlocking the door-sure it is automated now, but that doesn't mean we need to forget the human factor-quite the opposite, it means we need to celebrate it, and get on the phone.

I move mountains to fill the roles that need to be filled when I am on the phone working my magic.

Take some perspective at this time of year. There is a massive amount of hope, and life is your restaurant you can order, place and pursue your life's direction, if you will keep moving forward you can make a major difference that propels the end result to greatness.

During the holiday season as a recruiter remember the power you have to transform a life, and yet when all is said and done remember what got you to this point in your career-think about the person behind the resume, and add that person to your network even if you know they won't be selected. Of course guard with your life your reputation.

Be the one that opens doors for your candidates-if not selected give them a courtesy email at least and if you spoke to them directly and they represented you well to the hiring manager-then help that candidate rise to the occassion.

Human Beings are not widgets, and this is a time of self renewal as this year ends, remember what got you here, and help the candidates find their perspective.

Happy Holidays, the Human Factor will always be about relationships, and building a network you can be proud of for years to come. Those placed candidates will sing your praises, and if you can help those not selected to still leave with head held high and perspective that changes their career, then that is a very postive thing.

It's a great time to be alive and on the phone, and connecting via social networks to find the needle in a haystack. An early Christmas and Holiday present. The perspective that is so key-your spouse, your family, and children are all key contributors. But perspective sure does lead to greatness.
