I have been making job sites for 10 years now. Job sites and all related web site types. Job aggregators / scrapers, multiple job posting systems, recruitment agency web sites, …. I did it all.

Today I have been looking at my new one. Called simply www.JobsBoard.ie. And something was different with this one. And I do not mean the technology - that is always different. What I realised is different is that this is actually the first site that I like the way it looks. For 10 years I have been producing job boards that looked like – job boards! And in essence – those are not really that nice sites. Listings, and endless listings – however you make the site or organise the content. This one looks different. The first time that it feels NICE actually. I realised I have been starring at ugly sites for 10 years…. And made all my customers look at ‘not so nice’ web sites for a decade. And job seekers as well. And for that I have to say, I am honestly sorry. I just didn’t realise it.

While I am writing this I am wondering: am I fooling myself here? Is this one ugly but I just do not see it?

I hate to sound like one of those people who post messages: Come and see my new site! But I am just not sure any more myself. I have been doing this for 10 years, and I have a funny feeling I was WRONG for 10 years.

So if you get a chance to look at the site at: www.JobsBoard.ie – please just let me know if you think:
a) Ivan this is s**t! Hire a designer! This is not what a job site should look like!
b) It looks OK.

Notice that the option b) is not really – nice, but everything else but just UGLY!

Check the post below written in September 2011 – I was complaining the site was in the development for 3 years. Well that was last year!

Ivan - as one that has checked out your site before, I must say I really like this new redesign. Nice work and good luck with it!
