I was recently speaking to some recruiters at a particular company. A few had known of me from my Microsoft (MS) days. One of them asked me how I made the big hirer numbers I did at MS. I told them I didn’t. They looked at me shocked. I went on to explain, that yes the numbers were made, but that it took a team to do it. I could not have made those numbers without the interview coordinators taking care of the interviews I submitted. I could not have done it without my recruiting coordinators support and help, or my teams, or my hiring managers and their teams, or HR, or Legal or compensation, or anyone of a number of people who all played a part in my being able to get those large numbers. They seem amazed that I would say that, I went on to explain it is not about the “I” it is about the “we”. I then referred them to the book “Conscious Business” by Fred Kofman. All that said the point is do not forget all the people it took for you or anyone to succeed, make it about the “we”, appreciate the people who help you.
